Griffith Lands The Cavalor Leading Rider Award At The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows

North Salem, NY - May 25, 2010 - Two weeks of intense competition in five hunter divisions concluded and Patricia Griffith and her string of exemplary hunters amassed a total of 164 points to win the 2010 Cavalor Leading Hunter Award at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows.

Riding Second City in the Green Conformation Hunters for owner Becky Gochman, Platinum in the 1st Year Green Hunter division for Lexi Maounis, Arabella on behalf of Becky Gochman, Travino for Heritage Farm and Kid Rock for Lexi Maounis in the 2nd Year Green Hunter division, Griffith finished on top of the standings with 32 more points than her closest competition, earning her the $6,000 bonus.

Scott Stewart rolled in for the second week of competition, and his stellar stable of hunters gave him enough points to close in on Griffith, but not enough to overtake her. Stewart's 132 points were earned on Harry Potter 47 for Stormy Good in the Pre-Green Hunter division, Declaration, an 8 year-old bay Westphalian gelding owned by Fashion Farm, Regular Conformation Hunter Champion, Summer Place, another Fashion Farm horse, was awarded the top honors in the Regular Working Hunter Division, and Way Cool, owned by Stewart was Champion in the 2nd Year Green Division.
Ken Berkley finished in third place in the standings based on the superb performance of Premier, who was the Green Conformation Hunter Champion in the Green Conformation Hunter Division for owner Gina Day.

The Leading Hunter Rider Award is given each year to the rider who accumulates the most points in the two Old Salem Farm Horse Shows in the following hunter divisions: Pre Green Hunter, Green Working Hunter, Green Conformation Hunter (not including model) Regular Working Hunter. These points will be based on Championship Charts totals from each show and added for a rider's overall total score. If a rider exhibits more than one horse in a division, only the horse with the most points will count towards their
total. The cash prizes will be awarded to the top three riders as follows: First Place $6,000.00, Second Place $3,000.00, Third Place $1,000.00.
